Aug. 30th, 2006 -God's Continued Goodness to Us
All is well here on the border. School is underway and we have been going one hundred miles per hour! Rachel has had her ups and downs emotionally, so please continue to pray for her.
We have been able to get our floors fixed and walls dried out from the flooding and are happy with the new carpet! We have a fantastic group of students this year and we have the best staff to help us disciple them too! Please pray for the continual Spiritual growth of all the staff, students, and parents.
It is interesting how the Lord keeps us looking up to Him. Leaving the hospital without little Jadon was very difficult. 3 days after leaving the hospital our car broke down and I took it to the mechanic. Two days later, our older car, which we had never had any problems with, decided to shut down too. After 3 days with no cars, we were able to pick up the black Intrepid. The gray car will never run again. It has literally been one thing after the other. I have continually praised the Lord for His goodness in our lives, for a wonderful wife, a great brother and sister-in-law, a Christ-centered ministry, and a great church. In life we all go through circumstances where we cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is then, while in the darkness, we must cling tighter to the hand of our Heavenly Father who desires to lead us along.
I praise the Lord for His faithfulness to us, for His love, and His peace that passeth all understanding. We know He is perfecting a work in us and He is up to something good in our lives…always.
We are blessed to have our first “Intern For Christ” here this semester. Emily Zeizer has come down from Linden, Michigan. She has been such a HUGE blessing already. She is putting a writing curriculum together for us and helping everywhere else she can. Please pray for her as she has a lot to accomplish in a short time.
Thank you for your friendship, and all your prayers. Until next time...

Thank you for your continued prayers.
I thank the Lord for His goodness in our lives. The love that has been shown to us has been unbelievable to say the least. Our church here, Faith Baptist Church, has gone beyond the call to make us feel loved. We are daily receiving your cards in the mail. I personally have been doing fine, but Rachel has had her ups and downs. She had a real hard time leaving the hospital without the baby. Please continue to pray for her as she prepares for the school year. Only God can heal broken hearts. I do not want you to think she is depressed and crying all day, nor do I want you think she is all smiles. She is doing well, but she needs your continued prayers.
Since we have been home from the hospital, we have worked at the school a lot. We have been blessed with volunteer workers to help us on the school grounds. We replaced the damaged flooring in the house and also fixed the walls. We still have a long list of projects to do before school starts, but we are knocking them out one by one.
I cannot tell you how much we appreciate your prayers and your comments on this blog. We will try to update it often.

Friday Morning, August 11th, Last Day
I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to us by Christ Jesus.
Rachel was going to be induced last night, but during the beginning of the process she went into labor. She went into labor at approximately 12:00am, and delivered the baby at 2:59am. The Lord blessed us with a baby boy, Jadon Emanuel Curling. Jadon means thankful, and Emanuel means God with us. We were able to spend three hours with him. Jadon weighed close to 11 ounces, and was approx. 13 inches in length. He definitely had his mother’s lips and his father’s eye brows. The three hours we shared together were more special than I ever thought possible. We had a short ceremony with my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law, and my brother. We cried, laughed, and prayed together. Our God is an awesome God, and His grace is sufficient. Rachel has no sign of infection now. Praise the Lord!
You all have been a great source of encouragement to us and to each other. We are thankful to our awesome God who is the giver and sustainer of life. He is the great physician, and he has healed Jadon in a way only he can.
Our Blog says “we have reached our limit of transfers per month.” If you would like to leave a comment, please email us at j.curling@mcalions.com . We will update this BLOG periodically. Please continue to pray for Rachel as this will be an emotional time for her. We love you and thank you.
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. II Thes: 3:16,18

PS: Click on the Photo ALBUM on the right to see some new pictures of us and the baby. If you cannot see the pictures today, you should be able to tomorrow. We have upgraded the blog where there are no transfer limits.

Rachel feels ok, but her blood test this morning shows another increase in her white blood count. Please keep praying that her white blood count goes down soon.
Grace to you,
Juan and Rachel

Wednesday, August 9th, day 9
Please pray that Rachel’s white blood count goes down tremendously. She is at risk of becoming septic, and the possibility of losing her uterus. Please pray that the Lord will intervene tonight so her body will begin to recuperate.
I write this with tear-filled eyes. My baby is healthy, but my wife is more and more at risk.
1. Please pray that the white blood cell count goes down.
2. Please pray that I will have wisdom and peace about what to do.
I only wish every one of you will one day feel as loved as Rachel and I do right now. The Lord is good, and his blessings are new every day. Thank you for your love, and please continue to pray.
Juan

Tuesday Evening, Day 8.
Hello Friends,
Rachel is doing well. She had a good day. We gave her a sponge bath and she got all cleaned up. Her mom braided her hair and Rachel couldn’t be happier. She was having some severe pain in her side, so they quickly drew some blood and tested it to see if the white blood count had increased too high. The pain went away after 15 minutes, and the test results came back an hour later. Can you believe the white cell count actually went back down to 19! The doctor assured us yesterday that this would not happen. The fact that the infection went up after 7 days of being on constant antibiotics did not make the future seem positive. The doctor’s exact words to us last night were “there is no hope for this baby. You are going to have to make a decision here soon.” I know God is in control of this, He is the great physician, and He will do what He knows will bring Him the most glory. Please pray that the white blood count will continue decreasing.
“My God is so BIG, so strong and so mighty there’s nothing my God cannot do.”
We love you and thank you for your prayers!!!

Tuesday Morning, Aug 8th-day 7
Dear Friends and Family, Juan has been reading your comments to me and I can't tell you what an encouragement they are. It is so comforting to know that so many prayers are with us at this difficult time.Last night the Doctor told us that there was no hope for the baby. His words broke my heart but my thoughts were instantly turned to the truth that so many of you have shared with me over the past 7 days..."this is God's perfect plan for us." That doesn't mean I don't mourn the potential loss of our first born, for my heart aches at the thought. But in all this I have truly found "a peace that passeth all understanding."Although my body is growing weaker each day due to infection, it is amazing to see that our baby continues to grow and develop just as he should be. His heart is strong and healthy and I feel him moving more each day. So, even though we are given no hope by the words of men, our hope remains in the Lord. He is the God of miracles. Weather our precious baby is born today and goes to be with the Lord or weather he is born many weeks from now and miraculously lives, God will be glorified. What a comfort it is to know that God is in control.Thank you for your continued prayers and words of encouragement.Sincerely,
Rachel Curling

Monday Evening, Day 7
This is Joel, the brother-in-law, blogging for Juan who has no internet connection at the moment:
Rachel's white blood cell count has been rising, and the Dr. said that if this trend continues, they will have to induce. The ambiotic fluid has also been decreasing, and is down to 0.91 cm. It has been slowly decreacing over the past few days. Rachel has felt better today than any previous day, and they praise the Lord for giving her some physical comfort. Juan and Rachel rejoice again today that the Lord is allowing them to go through this.
As always, Juan and Rachel thank you for your continued prayers and comments
The Curlings (via the Campbells)
PS-This is Joel again. If you have time, leave a comment. Juan is reading the comments to Rachel every day, and they have been a great source of encouragement to them.

Sunday August 06, 2006
Sunday Evening, Day 6
Rachel has felt better today than any day thus far. This day was filled with visitors and phone calls. The Doctor told us the baby has gained weight! We consider ourselves blessed to be going through this. We listened to two sermons by Danny Brooks (the Pastor from our sending church in Greer, SC). What a blessing. Rachel and I are thanking the Lord for allowing us to go through this together. Many Christians have had to go through much worse. This is our cross right now, and we praise the Lord for it. Please continue to pray that the Lord's will be done through us. Thank you for your many prayers and comments. I would like to share this passage God gave us today:Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 - I have really been praying for you guys. Our first baby was miscarried, though not so far along, and I can relate to the ups and downs Rachel is going through emotionally right now. I thank God for your testimony through this and will continue to pray that He will give you grace and ease the pain a little more each day. The memory of my baby is now bittersweet, and I praise God for His care for our little ones who are no longer with us. (Comment this)

4 - Dear Juan and Rachel,

Our family is still praying for you each day. We know that you're hands are keeping busy, but that your hearts are still heavy. Continue to "Cast your burden on the Lord," because only He can sustain you.

I saw your mom at a distance yesterday and wanted so much to go up and give her a hug and ask her about you; however, many others were approaching her and sharing their love and concerns. I'll look for her another time.

Let us know how else we can pray for you. Let us know too how things are going at the school. Did you get the necessary number of teachers yet?

Love ya!

3 - "God Moves in a Mysterious Way"
by William Cowper, 1731-1800

1. God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.

2. Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never-failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will.

3. Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.

4. Judge not the Lord by feeble sense.
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.

5. His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.

6. Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own Interpreter,
And He will make it plain.

5 - Dear Juan and Rachel,
You are walking today where we never walked. How could we say anything to encourage you? We know very well of our short coming...
Still, today we have been praying for you. Odd as can be, our 2 boys this morning were praying for you and your baby, one even mentioned for 'Rachel having the baby'.
We did not think much of that, but at the end of our day, as we finaly saw you last post, we realize that when we were together as family this morning praying for you, all of that was taken place or just happen since we are 6 hours ahead of your time.
But GOD knows. And this is what we want to live with you that GOD knows, HE always does and always will.
May the 2 of you receive through this situation the opportunity of knowing HIM in a way that you never knew before.
We love you, and since we have that great time down at 'the border' we don't cease to pray for you, and you coun't on our continuous prayers.

6 - Hello Juan and Rachel,

I was talking with Sherilyn the other day and she told me about your situation and your blog. As I was reading your blog, I was overcome with emotion. Our family has been praying for you all over the past several days and have been reading it to see how you all were doing. I was heartbroken to see your entry this morning about losing the baby, but was overwhelmed with the faith you have in the Lord, that His will is perfect.
We will continue to keep your family in our prayers. These words from Octavious Winslow have been such a encouragement and blessing to our family.

With love,
Kerry,Kelly, Kate and Kelson Penwell

"You are Christ's and Christ is yours. Thus does the Lord lead His people, He leads them through the wilderness, up the steep ascent and down into the low valley, through water and fire, cloud and storm, thorn and desert, watching them with an eye that never slumbers, keeping them by a hand that never wearies, and encircling them with a love that never chills. Thus, step by step he leads them on, from grace to glory, from earth to heaven, from the wilderness below to the paradise above...
Is the path our heavenly Father has chosen for us paved with flint and sown with briar? Is it narrow and serpentine, difficult and perilous, often lone and dreary? How gently the Shepherd leads us along! He goes before, straightening the crooked, and smoothing the rough places, and rolling the stone from before us! What unexpected mercies and interpositions and aids he causes to spring forth in our way; how he mitigates expected suffering, allays foreboding fears, and disappoints all our unbelieving and mournful anticipations, preventing us with his goodness!
And when we have reached that event in our life which we dreaded most, the spot which looked the darkest in our history, behold, we have stood amazed at the marvelous loving-kindness of our God--that very event has proved our greatest blessing, and that very spot the sunniest and the brightest in the wilderness--so gently has he led us!"- Octavious Winslow

7 - Dear Juan & Rachel,
You have been an amazing testimony to us and to countless people throughout this difficult time. It is so amazing to see how the body of Christ has come together to pray for you. Our hearts ache for you and yet we are overwhelmed with the peace that the Lord has given to you. We know that the Lord doesn't give us more than we can handle. The Lord has carried you through this difficult time and will continue to hold you as there will be many tears to come. We rejoice that Jadon Emanuel is in His presence! We will continue to pray for you.

I have no idea what you are going through and I won't pretend to either. All I can offer is our family's prayers. One song has come to mind over and over as I think about your circumstances. We are praying for you as you continue on this path that Lord has laid out for you to travel.

You are my Strength when I am weak;
You are the Treasure that I seek,
You are my All in all
Seeking you as a precious jewel,
Lord to give up I’d be a fool
You are my All in all

Taking my sin, my cross, my shame
Rising again I bless Your Name
You are my All in all
When I fall down, You pick me up
When I am dry, You fill my cup,
You are my All in all

Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your name
Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your name

11 - It's exciting to hear that God may be answering our prayers for Rachel and Jadon's safety and health. Having experienced the power of an undeniable miracle last year when our God protected us in a car crash, I know the great feeling of seeing God do something unbelievable. It's always encouraging to me that we have not a high priest that can not be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted just as we are. Tears come to my eye every time I read that Jesus wept when he saw Mary and Martha mourning the death of their brother before he raised him from the dead. I know there is still healing and strength that needs to be granted so don't doubt that many are praying with you. (Comment this)

14 - Jadon Emanuel - That is a beautiful name. It will always have a special place in my heart. Even though I never really got to know him, I have a small but intense empty feeling inside because I miss him. There is a lot that we really do not understand or know completly about heaven, however I suspect little Jadon is having a great time of fellowship and praise with my Dad, his great grandpa, Art Hodges, along with his grandma, Mary Jane Curling. Unless he has changed in heaven, I'm sure my Dad has already told Jadon some pretty corny jokes and given him quite a few hugs. I never knew her but from what I have been told Mrs. Curling was a very special person with a tremendous love for little ones. So, it looks like Jadon is probably doing pretty well in his eternal home.

Jadon.... I love you and look forward to seeing you and spending time (do we "spend time" in eternity?) with you someday. (Comment this)

Juan, you are such a good example to young men in how you treat Rachel! Not once did you mention yourself and your hurts or needs. You simply asked us to pray for Rachel and for continued strength for her. How considerate.

16 - Dear Juan and Rachel:
You have been on my heart a lot, and will continue to be. I lift you both up in prayer. I know the Comforter will minister to you. I pray Rachel will grow in strength physically in the next few days. I loved seeing the pictures of your sweet tiny Jadon. Those little fingers so perfectly formed! And what a gorgeous name you chose for him! Juan, I know that your Mother would be proud of her grandbaby. I have been imagining her taking Jadon in her arms, loving him and praising God for him! He will never know the bitterness of this sinful world--he has been spared from so much suffering on this earth. I don't know if that thought is comforting to you, but it is to me. Jadon gets to know Jesus right away!! I like John 14, when Jesus was talking about His leaving this world, preparing the disciples for what was coming, and He said (verse 28) "Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I." I wonder if that helped the disciples to understand and accept His leaving more...when He said "I go unto the Father". That just came into my mind and I wanted to share it. The whole chapter of John 14 is a great one to read over. Well, take care of each other and I hope to come see you soon. "Let not your heart be troubled..." ~Davida (Comment this)

You are a great source of encouragement to us.

15 - Hey Yal!

It’s 2:00 AM here in GA, and I have been laying here unable to sleep. God has placed the two of you on my heart and I just want to share a couple of thoughts. I'm no great theologian but I know that the three of you have been greatly bathed in prayer over the last 10 days. This would possible be an easier decision if your doctor were a believer and could offer you some spiritual advice along with the medical advise, but he is not. God gave us doctors, saved and unsaved, with great medical knowledge as to how our bodies act and react to certain medical conditions. It is my prayer that you will listen to the medical experts that are there with you, God put them there for His purpose, Then second as many thousand prayers have gone up for you God WILL direct your thoughts and your heart as to His perfect will in this situation. So, as hard as it may seem, go with what God is laying on your heart and don’t second guess your decision. We love you and are praying for you even now!

It is very hard to live that knowledge while going through a tragic situation but we are seeing the evidence of God's amazing Grace in your lives. Your faithfulness is a testimony! We love you!! 18 - Hello Juan & Rachel - we are members of Christchurch Baptist in Houston, where you visited us on Wednesday night a few weeks ago. We were so saddened to hear the news -- especially so soon after we just learned that you were expecting and were so full of joy. I don't know if you remember who we were but Doug and I sat a couple of rows behind you that night. We certainly enjoyed your beautiful songs that you raised up in praise to the Lord, and for your testimonies. Please know that you are in our hearts and prayers. Your burden is our burden and we share your tears and fears. As you know, the last month or so Pastor Pope has been preaching on miracles and we've been very encouraged by these messages. I'm praying that God will work in your life right now., that there will be life and health and peace in your dear family -- and that it will be done all to his glory. When the news from the doctors seem bleak, and the pain is intense and emotions are strained, just remember this verse: "Be still and know that I am God"

I recently found out about what you are going through at this time. I just want to encourage you with the Word of God, for it is the only thing that can sustain us in the time of trouble. Remember that God is always good.

My heart hurts for you right now as I've just looked at your blog and found out about your situation. The only thing that helps is to know the "God of all comfort" and to know that you both are resting in Him too. "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?"

Thank you for your commitment to honor Him and for your example to the rest of us. You're a blessing.

10 - We are pleading to the Lord for His gracious and powerful intervention, that Rachel’s white blood count would drastically drop—for the display of God’s awesome glory, for the health of Rachel and the baby, for the joy of God's people, and for the salvation of the lost!

He is sovereign and powerful enough to do it.
He loves His own glory enough to do it.
He loves you enough to do it.
He is wise enough to do what is best—for His glory and your good.

Oh, sovereign God, act mightily for your own name’s sake—in the great name of Jesus!

May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord! 2 Peter 1:2 (Comment this)

4 - Dear, dear Rachel and Juan,

Thank you for letting us come and see you on Sunday. Brother Garlick was so wanting to just be with you, pray and share God's Word. The Lord gave him the desire of his heart and we got there. :) He is so very good to us!

The Lord awakened me about 1:30 this morning and you both were on my heart so I got up and have been reading your notes and praying for you and rejoicing with you that there are so very many who are doing the same. Also, I have been remembering the many times in hospital rooms in the quietness of the night, how God's presence has been so very real as there was no one else to talk to except Him. Sometimes, I would feel, as you both must now, that my strength was spent. Then was the sweet time that God's Word would challenge me: "Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? THERE IS NO SEARCHING OF HIS UNDERSTANDING. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:28-31 I knew that He DID understand as no one else could and all I could do was shed tears of joy in knowing that HE WAS WITH ME. As He is with you! There is no doubt -- He hears and answers prayers.

We love you all three dearly and continue to pray that God's perfect will will be done!

I pray that God will use this not only in your lives but also in the lives of the nurses and doctors and all you come into contact with to bring great glory to Him and to open doors for your ministry. 9 - Dear Juan and Rachel,
Ethan and I (as well as our church) are praying continually for you. My heart aches for you but at the same time my heart soars with joy at the incredible testimony you have been. On a personal note, this last week I have been struggling with discouragement and dissappointment with God. I know that sounds horrible to admit to, but your letters have been so convicting, and so encouraging, I just wanted to let you know that my heart has been touched. You have helped bolster my faith and confidence in God once again. My trials at this time pale compared to what you are going through and I stand amazed at your level of committment and contentment in what God is doing with you and through you. You are constatly in my thoughts and prayers. And now thanks to you and your testimony, I can say with renewed strength, "God IS good". Thank you again for your faithful example, and we are praying for the staff there at the hospital, a situation like yours is bound to make a great impact on their lives. And we are praying for Rachel and her health now, our God is a God of wonders. We are praying for your sweet baby, for his strength and for his life. And we are praying for Juan, I can't imagine the weight on your shoulders right now. We are praying that God will give you overwhelming strength and grace.

14 - Dear Rachel and Juan,
You might remember me from your recent visit to Grace Bible Church in Moore, SC. My husband Daniel & I are praying for Rachel and for your little one, as we are at the same stage of pregnancy as you are. We thank the Lord for the grace He is giving you through this time of deep testing, and we praise Him for the way you have pointed all of us back to His goodness and glory through this time.
I'm sure you are getting all sorts of unsolicited advice, so I hesitate to even mention this, but if it could possibly help, I would definitely want to share. I could not tell from your blog if your doctor has considered amniotic fluid replacement therapy. One of our pastors, Ken Huff, has a foster daughter whose biological mother's water broke at 22 weeks, and she had amniotic fluid replacement therapy and was carried to (I believe) 34 weeks. One of the nurses at my OB office (also one of our deacon's wives) told me of a lady whose water broke at 16 weeks; she had this therapy, and the child is now a healthy 5-year-old. These miracles are testimony to God's power! I just wondered if your doctor has considered this option.
So many people are praying for you: Our shepherd group prayed last night. A lady who delivered a stillborn child at full-term several years back cried through her prayer as she prayed for God's grace and comfort to sustain you. During Wednesday night prayer meeting, my parents' small church in South Dakota prayed for the Lord to make His will perfectly clear for both of you and to give you His wisdom and grace.
We will continue to pray . . . (Comment this)

18 - We have all three of you on our minds and in our prayers. We love you, and we know that God has a purpose for all of this. I hope that this prayer from The Valley of Vision encourages your heart and helps you to better see God through Christ:

"Lord, high and holy, meek and lowly, Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision, where I live in the depths but see Thee in the heights; hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold Thy glory. Let me learn by paradox that the way down is the way up, that to be low is to be high, that the broken heart is the healed heart, that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit, that the repenting soul is the victorious soul, that to have nothing is to possess all, that to bear the cross is to wear the crown, that to give is to receive, that the valley is the place of vision. Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from deepest wells, and the deeper the wells the brighter Thy stars shine; let me find Thy light in my darkness, Thy life in my death, Thy joy in my sorrow, Thy grace in my sin, Thy riches in my poverty, Thy glory in my valley."

6 - Dear Rachel, Juan and Baby Curling,
Praise GOD from whom all blessings flow! We appreciated your faithfulness and words of encouragement. Your testimony, your faith, the way you act, your talk and walk, are being a blessing to us, we can see CHRIST in you and HIS name glorified.
It is all about HIM, and because of that we trully can say that a miracle already happen because of HIS eternal life provided to us. Sure HE bears our sorrows, HE feels and is touched by our infirmities.
There is a gospel song in the south that says something like this
"To look at GOD's children, this world just may say 'how foolish we are to believe'
But what they don't know we are heirs to a throne, and our name is on the deed!"
So, like Juan so wisely said in another post, we are more than conquerors, nothing can separate us from the love of GOD, we are on the wining side!
Yes, and because of that, we'll keep on praying, knowing that our GOD is receiving our prayers as a sweet smell at the throne room. Just knowing that make us to shout for joy, that we have the opportunity of bringing before HIS presence some request, your names and your needs.
Praise the LORD here is not the end, today nothing will finish, this present time can't be compare with the Glory that is waiting for us, and soon shall be revealed.
We love you, and we have been blessed by praying for you and with you.

The comments that U post and your entire situation are being used by our Lord to further His kingdom and that is something to rejoice in. I personally have been extremely encouraged and also rebuked in my own heart as a result of hearing how Christ is being glorified in both of U. Nahum 1:7 says, "the Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him." Thanks for your testimonies of trusting in Him, Curlings.

As I sat here and read your daily updates from day 1 I must admit I was brought to tears. Franky and I went through a similar situation at the end of last year. As it is evident that you both already know the purpose of trials and tribulations are ultimately to draw us closer to God. If this is indeed done than His purpose and plan were accomplished. What a comforting thought to know that God is in control of our lives. It is an amazing thought to know that one day I will get to see my little one playing at Jesus' feet. Know that you are grately in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you again for the encouragment that you brought to my heart! Stacey Franco (Comment this)

2 - We continue to pray for you every day, and rejoice in the testimony of your love for Christ and confidence in His providence. Psalms 68:19 comes to mind - "Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens." (Comment this)

3 - I was reading these passages this morning and thought I'd share...
2 Cor. 4:16-18 "That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we LOOK FOWARD to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will SOON be over, but the joys to come will last forever."!!!!

He WILL uphold you through this!

4 - We are praying for God's will in your lives. Remember the song "O Rejoice in the Lord, He makes no maistakes. He knoweth the end of each path that I take. For when I am tried and purified, I shall come forth as gold." This song has been a great encouragement to me over the years. I pray that it will be a blessing to you both today! Please let us know if we can help. Love, Becky (Comment this)

5 - Dear Juan, Rachel and Baby Curlings,
Our family is praying for you.
Today as we read the Psalm for the day, 8, we saw again on the last verse what kind of GOD we have:
"O LORD, our LORD, how excelent is thy name in all the earth!"
What a blessing for us to know that not only our GOD is LORD, but HE is OUR LORD, and as the word teaches us, HE works for us that trust and wait on HIM.
So, form Portugal to the border of Mexico and the USA, we can rest assure that the One that we called upon is OUR LORD, whose name is Excelent.
We pray that HE will bless you even more today, and give you double grace to bear your burden.
We love you,

6 - Juan and Rachel, The girls in Sher's Bible study are all praying for you. I'm also sending updates to Johnson Ferry's prayer ministry so someone is praying for you around the clock. What a testimony you are for the Lord! Rest on Him and know that this suffering produces perserverance, perserverance character, and character hope. Rom 5:3 (Comment this)

8 - I'm praying for you all! It has been so encouraging to see how you have continued to praise our great God through this time of testing. It is good to know that as Isaiah 55:9 states, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." The LORD already knows how this will play out, and it is glorifying to Him! (Comment this)

9 - Rachel and Juan,
There are lots of folks at Interfilm (where Rachel's dad works) who are praying for you every day. Your faith in this difficult time is apparent across the miles and touching hundreds of people through networks of friends and acquaintances. Imagine how many people are praying for you this very minute! Our God is an awesome God!

11 - Rachel and Juan,

I know that I talk to you everyday, but sometimes it's different to receive something written. I want you both to know that we love you so much. We know that God's way is always perfect and good. What a great characteristic of our God. We are so blessed to have a God who only does that which is perfect and good. God is going to use this someday and I see that He is already using you now to show His marvelous works. Your peace has been such a testimony to so many. We are not only your brother and sister, but your brother and sister in Christ. --- what a great blessing to be both. Thank you for encouraging others through your very difficult time. 12 - Dear Juan and Rachel,

Still praying for a miracle, but trusting the Father to give all that He knows is best. I've been thinking about the words to one of the Patch songs called "One Little Sparrow."

"One Little Sparrow"
(by Ron Hamilton & Cheryl Reid)

One little sparrow falls to the ground.
No one can see 'cause no one's around.
Lonely and scared that he'll never be found,
lost in a world so big.

Yet there is One who sees sparrows fall.
God our Creator sees them all.
Watches each tiny sparrow fly,
and when it falls to the earth—
He hears its cry.

If God cares for sparrows, then God cares for me.
I'll trust Him to guide me, and safe I will be.
Nothing will happen that He has not planned.
And just like the sparrow, I'm safe in His hand.

No need to worry—Jesus is near.
He gave His promise—His presence is here.
He's always with me. I don't have to fear.
Never alone am I.

God cares about me. He knows my name.
Sees ev'ry footstep; shares each pain.
He lifts me up whenever I fall.
He hears my simple prayer, each time I call.

If God cares for sparrows, then God cares for me.
I'll trust Him to guide me, and safe I will be.
Nothing will happen that He has not planned.
And just like the sparrow, I'm safe in His hand.

"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." Matthew 10:29-31 ESV

What a thought—each person is valuable to God! He knows all about us (inside and out) and He still loves and cares for us. He feels every pain that you feel. Nothing is ever hid from Him. And even while you experience this burden, you can be assured that He knows all about it. He will provide the grace and strength you need. We will certainly pray for Him to continue to put His arms of love around you and show you how much He loves all three of you!

Love and Prayers,

5 - Dear Juan and Rachel,

We're so glad to hear the baby is growing and gaining some weight! Even happier to hear how God is using all this in your lives and drawing both of you closer to Him and to eachother.

We're starting school today! :-) The kids aren't as excited as I am. What a blessing to know that God has allowed me this privilege of training our children. Throughout the day today we will stop to pray for the two of you and the precious life that is still growing inside Rachel.

May the Lord continue to show Himself to be the "God of all comfort, strength, love, and mercy." Trusting that He'll allow those nurses and doctors to see how truly great He is!

With our love,

7 - Juan and Rachel,
I have been visiting this site for the past several days and every time have come to comment, but then I am at a loss for what to write. The scripture on your post today prompted me to write, as it was on my mind for you the other day.
I am so encouraged to see your faith and peace during this trial, and I am praying for you daily. It is such a blessing to see God honoring His promise of providing the grace that we need. We are praying for the three of you daily.

8 - I know mom signed her comment from all of us, but I wanted to add something.
First, God is so good to give us family to help through the hard times.
Second, Your testimony has shown me so much about our Christ and I thank you for being such a great testimony.
Last, 2 Cor. 1:3-4 God is our Comforter; and I Cor. 10:13 God only gives us the trials we can handle but we must look to Him.
I'm still praying.

10 - It was such privilege to serve with you last week . . . our men's Bible study at Bridgeway Church in Alpharetta, Georgia and the staff of Bridgeway Christian Academy are praying for your family . . . Ps 139 "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb . . .You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumerable!

11 - You guys are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. We pray you can daily immerse yourself in His Word and come to Him with all your hurts and praise during this time as He longs for us too! How GREAT it is that our God can be exalted during this time. As hard as this situation is, cherish your time together- as you and Rachel will grow SO close to each other and to Him during this difficult trial! We rejoice with you as your little one continues to grow and Rachel to heal. God is so much greater than we can comprehend. How encouraging to know you are all in His hands being formed into His image.

12 - Sherilyn sent us the prayer request about your baby. Be assured of our prayers and love for you and your baby. We went through a similar time of trusting the Lord for our son, Ryan, when he was very little. As difficult as this is, your trust in God will strengthen your faith and your relationship with each other.

Be strong in the Lord and renew yourself in Him each day!
